On February 5th, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Georgia Chapter held its Annual Meeting & Volunteer Awards Celebration at The Carlyle in Atlanta. The evening brought together patients, families, care teams, researchers, and community partners to reflect on the past year and connect with one another.
A highlight of the night was recognizing those who help strengthen the CF community across Georgia. Congratulations to Dr. Clovis Sarmiento, Associate Program Director for CF@LANTA, who received the 2025 Outstanding Care Center Partnership Award. This award is given to a local team member or partner who works closely with chapter staff to create meaningful ways for the community to stay engaged and supported.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Randy Hunt, Associate Professor of Medicine at Emory University and Clinical Director of the Adult CF Program, shared updates on current clinical care, research progress, and the role of community programs in improving outcomes for people with cystic fibrosis.
Overall, the event was a reminder of how much can be accomplished when people come together with a shared goal.

The CF Scholars Committee is pleased to announce Dr. JaNise J. Jackson, Research Scientist in the Oliver Lab at Emory University, as the 2025 recipient of the Leann Rittenbaum Ott Fellowship Award. This award recognizes her dedication and impactful contributions to cystic fibrosis research and care.
We’re excited to welcome the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference 2026 to Atlanta and to share the work happening across Emory University, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and our partner institutions. This is a great opportunity to highlight the research, collaboration, and community driving progress in cystic fibrosis care right here in our city.

We look forward to seeing you in Atlanta, Georgia!
